VISUAL
ART - SCULPTURE
Sculpture can be defined as a three-dimensional artwork created
by shaping or combining materials such as hard plastics, wood,
cement and clay. The truth is that it does not differ that
much from drawing, where an analytical knowledge of spatial
aspects is gained through analysis on a two-dimensional level.
The art of drawing therefore forms an important part of sculptural
analysis. Learners are encouraged to draw and to sketch and
to keep these works to use as inspiration and information
for future sculptural work.
Grade 10: Learners are introduced to a variety of media. The
course further focuses on acquiring the necessary technical
skills and on exploring three-dimensional space.
Grade 11: Learners are expected to start integrating content
and technique. The focus is on longer, more in-depth projects.
Grade 12: Learners are expected to display a personal interpretation
of projects. Independent thinking is encouraged.
